Is there room for training and personal development after joining Mars?

The training and development opportunities when joining Mars are actually far greater than I expected before I started. A lot of emphasis is actually put on your personal development and it is as import as your functional delivery. Training is also readily provided and you have the freedom to seek extra training you feel will help in your development and/or delivery of your functional role. As an example I have had the opportunity as an MGS associate to enroll in a Data Science Nano-Degree as I feel this will help me follow my desired career path.

I especially like the learning on the job opportunities. I was able to take on some new projects and responsibilities in my job based on my development conversations with my manager. Moreover, I like the learning by doing principle, there are quite some new elements to my role which I have never done before. For example I was asked to organize a photoshoot for our new global employer reputation campaign. This was my first time and I really enjoyed organizing and learning from it. Whenever needed my team and manager are always there for support.

Absolutely! For me personally, it is my favourite thing about working for Mars. There is so much room for training & personal development! There is a strong process in place, to ensure every associate has the same experience in this arena, but associates also have the freedom to push for development opportunities if they want to. For example, I wanted to experience project management for a different manufacturing site & within a week or so I was given a new project! Always be open with your career goals & development areas and the training & development opportunities will roll in!

The training personal development at Mars are one of the reasons I was so eager to join the business. The focus on personal development at Mars is really impressive, the PDP (personal development plan) process really allows you to tailor your development to your areas of strength and weakness. On the graduate schemes we also get extra development opportunities, on the procurement scheme we have 2 development weeks per year with external coaches.
